Latest Note From Pastor Jonathan

Quick overview of what God is doing here
We recently held our church family’s Annual Meeting, where leaders were elected and ministry highlights were presented. An Annual Report was distributed (available today at the Literature Display), a compilation from our Ministry Staff. How encouraging to get a quick overview of what God has been doing through our Grace Church family! Here are just a few excerpts of how God has been at work among us this last year. I’m so grateful that he is willing to use every one of us, no matter our background or gifting, as long as we stay
available and surrendered to him. Thanks for making a difference in his name, praying, giving, and serving! There were 184 individuals who publicly ...

The Blueprint
Written by Jonathan Schaeffer

What's the big deal about homosexuals getting married in California or anywhere else?

Historical perspective can help us here.  Kairos Journal had a recent article that revealed how cultures which consistently deny the Bible's blueprint for marriage will suffer.

Take Russia, for instance. The Soviet experiment against the traditional family, including marriage as a divinely sanctioned institution, is well documented. The results of that experiment, begun in 1917, have borne bitter fruit.  Having made abortion a state sponsored activity, Russia now faces a nightmarish scenario. In 2004, there were 1.6 million registered abortions . . . and 1.5 million births.  Coupled with other sociological factors such as poor diet, health care, and rampant alcoholism, the long modern Russian war against the family has culminated in a massive population implosion. Official estimates say that the population of 143 million could plummet to 77 million by the middle of this century.  Former President Vladimir Putin has declared the decline a national crisis but has not yet devised a plan to counter the problem.

Other European countries that have downplayed marriage are also struggling with the implications of declining birth rates, notably Italy, France, Germany, and Britain.  In September 2005, Britain's Office of National Statistics reported a steep decline in marriage rates for people aged 30 and younger.  In these cases too, the governments are searching for solutions to reverse the trends.

There are definite consequences for undermining the institution of marriage and family over the span of several decades. The creation mandate for men and women to join in lifelong monogamous pro-creative marriage gives stability to a society.  When cultural elites tamper with this formula, trouble ensues.

While some argue that the sky has not fallen in Massachusetts since gay marriage was legalized in 2003, that view is shortsighted.  As the history of slavery, eugenics, and abortion reminds us-eventually, reality strikes back.  When God clearly denounces homosexuality in the Bible, it's not because He's malicious or uncaring.  Precisely the opposite is true; His love for us moves Him to give us a blueprint for marriage that is for our best.  Are we listening?

What if you are struggling with homosexuality and are in a relationship with someone of the same gender can u loose youre salvation? If a christian is struggling with it and would give it up except for the fact that they are allready in a relationship and so in love with that person and doesnt want to hurt them, if they choose to stay in that relationship will they go to hell?
