![]() Hope for the Captives is a Bible-based ministry providing prayer, support, education, fellowship and hope for parents, family and friends struggling with the same-sex attraction (SSA) issues of those they love.
We, and those we love, can all be held captive by the misinformation and distortions of truth that exist both outside and inside the church. Learning that someone you love is homosexual can bring overwhelming emotions: confusion, denial, fear, grief, guilt, anger and depression are common responses.
We can often feel isolated and alone, captive. As a Christian,
Scripture tells us "the truth will set you free." At Hope for the Captives, we are searching out truth, for us and for those we love.
Hope for the captives starts here:
Our God is a God of love, mercy and grace who desires a personal relationship with all of His children. However, we all sin and fall short of the glory of God and are in need of His healing love and compassion. Those with same sex attractions (SSA) did not choose to have those feelings, just as we, family and friends, did not choose the feelings we have in response to their "coming out". Feelings are not sin. What one does with feelings can lead to sinful practice and a broken relationship with God, family and friends. God works through His Church to be His hands and feet in bringing His good news of release from the power of sin, and the pain and grief it brings, to our lives and the lives of others. We cannot change others, or solve their problems. We can only allow Christ to change ourselves. It is our desire to provide a safe, confidential place of prayer and support for each of us, as family and friends of those with SSA, to ask questions, search for answers, and begin to experience the transforming power of the Holy Spirit in our lives. We will then be prepared to share that same power of love and transformation with those we love as the Lord leads us.
Scripture also says that God’s grace is sufficient to carry us through whatever we face in life. We all find our hope in Him. We trust Him for what we and our loved ones need to be set free to enjoy renewed relationship with our loving God!
One important thing that He gives us is each other!
You are invited to join us in a safe, confidential setting for fellowship with other concerned Christian parents, family and friends working to come to terms with SSA, an often difficult issue affecting our lives and the lives of those we love.
Hope for the Captives meets the third Tuesday of each month at 7:00pm in room 64 at Grace Church 7393 Pearl Road, Middleburg Heights, OH 44130 440.243.4885 www.gracecma.org
