Sports Ministry

vball1The Sports Ministry at Grace Church currently offers for adults: Softball (men and co-ed); Volleyball (co-ed); Basketball (men); Latin Fitness and Aerobics (women); Flag Football (men); Ultimate Frisbee (co-ed); Golf Outing (co-ed); Ski Day (co-ed); Men's Fishing Trip.  And for the youth: Kids Soccer Summer Camp (co-ed).

The Sports Ministry seeks to:
  • Honor and glorify Christ through sports
  • Encourage each participant who does not know Christ to establish a personal relationship with Him
  • Challenge those that have a personal relationship with Christ to a deeper walk
  • Foster fellowship and spiritual growth among men
  • Seek to communicate, teach and model biblical principles of sport and competition to all participants

VOLLEYBALL:  Co-ed pickup volleyball games are held on Thursdays October through December from 7:30-10:00pm in the Activity Center with two skill levels.  A co-ed six person league occurs Thursday evenings from January to April.  The league has three skill levels (C, B, & A): recreational through advanced.  Sign up is during the last three weeks of November.  Also a coed four-person indoor summer league takes place on Thursday evenings at Grace Church from June 9 to August 18.  This league has two skill levels (B & A).  Sign up at www.gracecma.org/vb.  Click here for more information about the volleyball leagues. 

MEN'S SOFTBALL:  We have men's softball teams playing in the Strongsville Recreation Church League beginning in May . COED SOFTBALL: A coed softball team play in Berea Rec League on Friday evenings for one hour between 6:30-10:30pm at Dora Lee Field.  Cost per player is $65 for the 14 game season which runs May through August.  For more information, contact Kristy O'Hara at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. LATIN FITNESS (similar to Zumba) .  This exercise class for women will be held every Tuesday, from 6:45-8:00pm in the Grace Church Activity Center.  We will begin with a fun hour workout, then while we are cooling down, we will share a healthy tip, recipe, testimony or short devotional.  There is no charge.  For more information contact Trista Hartman at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. EXERCISE MATTERS: This strength training and toning class for ladies (teens and older) is for all fitness levels.  Join other gals as we strengthen our bodies, minds and our walk with Christ.  This hour promises to be a time of good exercise and fellowship - and it's free.  We meet every Tuesday from 7:00-8:15pm in Room 2 and every Saturday from 9:00-10:15am in Room 21.  What to bring: an exercise mat, 3-5 lb. weights, water bottle and astretch band.  Contact Mary Ann Foote at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. YOUTH SOCCER CAMP:  Cancelled for the summer of 2010.  Will resume the summer of 2011.

GOLF SCRAMBLE:  Grace's Annual Golf Day is Saturday, September 25. SKI DAY:  An all day ski outing (co-ed) to Peek 'n Peak  will be Saturday, January 29, 2011. Sign up in early January. We get a group discount on lift tickets.  A lift ticket is $35 per person and rentals are $21 for skis or $26 for snowboards. FLAG FOOTBALL:  Men (age 18+) join us for a fun season of flag football beginning September 25 through November 20, every other Saturday from 9:15 -11:00am at Bonnie Park in Strongsville (by Pearl Rd. & Valley Pkwy.) .  Cost is $1 per person per week.  Contact Pastor Gregg Carrick at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. ULTIMATE FRISBEE:  Pickup games are held every other Saturday (alternating with men's flag football) Oct. 2, 16, 30 & Nov. 13 from 10am to noon.  Games are co-ed for age 16 and older.  Not familiar with ultimate Frisbee?  Think of a soccer game by throwing a frisbee.  It's great aerobic exercise!  We play at Bonnie Park in Strongsville (by Pearl Rd. & Valley Pkwy.), and it's free.  For more information contact Ian Manahan at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. CANADIAN FISHING TRIP:  An 9 day men's fishing trip for pike and walleye in the Canadian wilderness September 9-17, 2011.  We will stay at cabins at Big Bear Camp in Horwood Lake, Ontario, Canada near Timmins, Ontario.  The cost is $750 and includes cabin lodging, meals, gas and tolls.  A non-refundable deposit of $100 is due by November 30, 2010.  It's time to get away and catch the big fish!  For more information, contact Gary Sweet at 216-347-3894.
