Giving at Grace ChurchWe have been given immense spiritual blessings in Christ. Furthermore, as Americans, we have been blessed materially in unbelievable ways. Even those Americans considered to be of lower incomes would still be rich by the standards of most countries of the world.
Start today. As believers we are called to give to the Lord a tithe, or literally a tenth, of all we have (Leviticus 27:30). Along with tithing to a local church body, there are numerous other ways to give "offerings" to those in need, through sending relief to people devestated by earthquakes or tsunamis, giving to missionaries around the globe who are working to spread the gospel of Christ, or sponsoring a child in need. So what do we do with the blessings God has given us? God has called us to give generously (Deuteronomy 15:10), and in II Corinthians 9:7 it says that God loves a cheerful giver. We can choose to hold tightly to the material blessings we have, or we can choose to give freely. Often, when we let go of our rights to our "stuff," God is able to bless us more than we could imagine.
