Baptisms at Grace

One of the highlights at Grace Church is our baptism services! Again and again we hear stories of how the Lord has changed an individual's life. As each person is baptized we celebrate the wonder of forgiveness, new baptism-300x300.jpgspiritual life, restored relationships and the certainty of a future home in heaven. We serve a God of amazing grace!

Baptism shows that Christ is at the center of my life, that I have come into a life-changing relationship with Him. It is an outward picture of what has already taken place on the inside. Being baptized does not make us a Christian, but shows others that we have already become a Christian.

Like a wedding ring, baptism is a symbol of a commitment made, a declaration to others of our love and devotion in a new relationship.

If you have not been baptized, doing so can be one of the most significant steps you can take in your Christian life. It makes a statement to those around you that you want to follow Christ with your whole heart. You have received his forgiveness, and you want your life to be used to make a difference in the world for Him.

"Those who accepted his message were baptized..." Acts 2:41

"...Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit." Acts 2:38

Following Jesus
Just before He ascended to heaven after His resurrection, Jesus told His followers, "Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit." Matthew 28:19

When we are baptized, we are following the instructions of Jesus. While it is not baptism that saves us, it is an act of obedience to the One who paid for our forgiveness.
